Most of us in the modern world no longer produce enough Vitamin D in our bodies because of so many factors. You see, the essential element that stimulates Vitamin D production in our bodies is sunlight. But despite the abundance of sunlight in the Philippines, many people are not getting enough.

When we left for Manila last August 14, my mother sent us a container of her native chicken adobo that she cooked with turmeric. That was for my brother who lives there and also for us. So we will have some ulam while just staying at home. I let it freeze in the container overnight so that it will not spoil while in transit.
My mother let the sauces dry up while cooking so that it will not spill in our luggage. So when it was time for us to eat it, I re-heated the adobo in a little oil and water so that it will not burn. And wow! It tasted very good.
So for those of you who have not tried using turmeric with your adobo, you should do so. Not only will it give a different twist to this all-time favorite chicken dish of Filipinos, you will also get to reap the health benefits of having turmeric in your diet.
By the way, this is very healthy because the native chicken was free-ranged in our backyard without medications and all. So it is all-natural. It was also dressed at home. Safe and hygienic.
